A First Hand COVID-19 Experience!
November 11, 2020
COVID-19 has ravaged throughout the U.S. and the rest of the world. To date, almost 52 million people have contracted the virus and almost 1.3 million people have died. Knowing someone who has the virus and catching it yourself are two different situations. I had the chance to virtually speak with Julianna, who is currently dealing with the symptoms of the virus. Here is what she had to say.
1. Did you take the covid test prior to or after you had any symptoms?
This was actually my fourth time taking the test. The first three times were all negative so I was kinda expecting this test to be positive. The only symptom I had was a headache but my grandparents had covid so me, my parents and 3 siblings all got tested (we were all positive except my brother).
2. What were the first symptoms you felt?
I had bad stomach pains for a couple weeks, a constant headache and my sinuses were hurting too. Add the occasional fever and some body aches and that’s where I was at.
3. Now that you have the virus how has your perspective on the pandemic changed, if it has?
I think it’s easy to not take the pandemic seriously if you or people you love are not being affected by it. I just feel a lot more empathy for people who have been going through it.
4. What precautions have you taken or plan on taking?
I haven’t left my house and don’t plan to until I get a negative test result back.
5. What was your family’s reaction when they figured out you have the virus?
They weren’t surprised because they also had it. It’s a bit exasperating to have everyone in your household (all 8 of us in my case!) is suffering together from the same virus but we’re all on the road to recovery.
6. What advice would you give to someone who has received a positive test result?
STAY HOME! Don’t take it lightly- other people’s lives are at risk and although you can social distance, don’t be inconsiderate to others. Drink lots of water and rest!
