15 years and $37 million later, Kearny High School made a strong comeback with renovated 20 classrooms and an atrium for students and faculty to enjoy. An overlooked detail is the allusion to the emblem of Kearny High, the Kardinal. A column in the atrium features bright red paint and white letter that reveals the atrium’s intended name, “the perch.”

However this creative touch has generally gone unnoticed. Out of 17 students surveyed, 14 were completely unaware of “the perch’s” existence… let alone it’s location. The three others claimed they had only recently noticed it as per return to school. Generally it’s safe to assume that                                                                             if you ask to meet at the perch you’ll be left hanging.
