Sports Roundup 2

Victoria Kulikowski

The third week of sports for KHS does not seem to be improving. Though the attendance at games is promising, our records still dip towards the lower sides for local high school sports teams.

Girl’s soccer still has an uncertain tide of wins and losses. Though the losses are close in score, 3-2 for both losses this past week, their wins are more impressive. With a 3-point margin in between scores vs. North Bergen and Livingston they certainly gave it their all to win.

9/21- vs. Bridgewater-Raritan, lost 3-2

9/22- vs. North Bergen, won 3-0

9/26- vs. Chatham, lost 3-2

9/29- vs. Livingston, won 4-1

Boy’s soccer is on a streak! With incredible point margins of 10, 9, and 4, the team appears to be in great shape. The team has only seen one loss so far, but a single loss will surely leave no mark on the team’s promised wins in the rest of the season.

9/21- vs. Bayonne, won 11-1

9/23- vs. Roxbury, lost 2-1

9/26- vs. Memorial, won 9-0

9/28- vs Union City, won 4-0

10/1- vs. Delran, tied 1-1

Our volleyball team has seen better seasons. With only one win this season, their comeback is becoming less and less promising as the weeks go on. As they play away games more often, let’s believe in their practices and teamwork so the volleyball team can come out on a positive note!

9/21- vs. Hudson Catholic, lost 2-0

9/22- vs. North Bergen, lost 2-0

9/25- vs. McNair, lost 2-0

9/27- vs. Bayonne, lost 2-0

9/28- vs. Union City, lost 2-0

Still a tug of war between games for Girl’s Tennis. Starting off their NJ Tournament this week in Montclair is a loss, but even that has room for improvement.

9/21- vs. Union City, lost 3-2

9/22- vs Ferris, won 4-1

9/25- vs. St. Dominic, lost 3-2

9/28- vs. Montclair, lost 4-1 (First round of NJSIAA Tournament, North Jersey)

Football hit their highest score this season with two back-to-back touchdowns on Wednesday, totaling 14 points against Passaic! Once they get some momentum going, they can up their stats greatly. Hopefully their game vs. Bloomfield next week will unfold in Kearny’s favor!

9/23- vs. Hudson Catholic, lost 34-6

9/30- vs. Passaic, lost 34-14
