End of Fall Sports Season- Sports Roundup

Victoria Kulikowski

Kearny teams did not end up as we all predicted, ending our Girls Soccer, Volleyball, and Boys Soccer seasons early. Our performance in the tournaments was unfortunate as our title last year put a lot of pressure on the athletes- the Boys Soccer team declared the 2021 State Champs. The Senior Farewells performed well and we hope all our senior athletes continue their interest in sports. Winter sports are coming up soon, so keep an eye out for the tournament schedule that will come!

Girls Tennis Scores are unavailable due to their loss in the 10/21 game against North Bergen with the scores 4-1. They will be ready for next season with even better scores.

Girls Soccer had a standard end to the season after losing 2-1 against Ridgewood in the NJSIAA Semifinal Round. The teams were at similar levels but a single goal in the last few minutes turned out to be the tiebreaker.

Girls Soccer Scores:

10/26 won vs Fair Lawn, 5-0

10/29 won vs Livingston, 3-1 (NJSIAA Quarterfinals)

11/1 lost vs Ridgewood, 2-1 (NJSIAA Semifinals)

Boys Soccer was under the pressure of last year as State Champs, and did not pull through this year. They may have made it if West Orange had not scored in the last ~10 minutes of the game.

Boys Soccer Scores:

10/27 won vs Montclair, 3-0

10/31 won vs. Livingston, 1-0, (NJSIAA Quarterfinals)

11/2 lost vs West Orange, 1-0 (NJSIAA Semifinals)

As the last score of the season, Girls Volleyball lost in their first round of the NJSIAA Tournament, an unfortunate end to the year.

Girls Volleyball Scores:

10/29 lost vs Union, 2-0 (NJSIAA Tournaments, First Round)

Football has a better record this year than last! Their last game at Hopatcong was a success and every coach is definitely happy about the turnouts of this season.

Football Scores:

11/3 won vs Hopatcong, 32-20

Our track team is holding up very well with their standings and their top scores for the season. They have stayed consistent throughout seasons so we hope they stay consistent this year as well!
