Walk down any hallway at KHS and you’ll hear conversations about cliffhangers, arguments on plot twists, or “you HAVE to watch this” recommendations. At times of these moments, you probably wonder what’s the hype about or what are all these kids insanely obsessed with right now? Well, we interviewed some students we know, and got several different answers and opinions.

One main production that people are talking about non-stop due to the many overwhelming emotions kept for the new season, is Stranger Things. This show started back in 2016, and now the fifth season is finally coming out November 26. However, this epic finale is being split into three parts. Volume 1 is coming out the day before Thanksgiving, Volume 2 on Christmas, and the long-awaited finale on New Year’s Eve. This show is about teens and adults fighting against an evil force in their town that comes from an alternate dimension, called the Upside Down. The majority of students, as well as teachers at KHS, have heard or watched the show.

Another big production people are anxious for is Avatar: Fire and Ash. The franchise of Avatar is an American science-fiction series created by James Cameron, beginning in 2009. The series is set in the mid-22nd century on Pandora, a moon made of gas giants deep into the star system. The film’s main conflict is the indigenous Na’vi tribe who live on Pandora being attacked by scientists who want to steal Pandora’s natural resources. Avatar: Fire and Ash is the 3rd movie of the sequel that is expected to come out December 19th of this year.
Now, let’s turn towards animated shows/movies coming out soon. For example, shows such as My hero academia and Arcane are being mentioned. My Hero Academia is airing its newest and final season. Arcane is dropping off its final acts soon.

If you don’t know what My Hero Academia is, let me tell you the general concept. It’s a world where mostly everyone has gained special abilities, similar to super powers, but instead they call these powers quirks. In the first episode, we are introduced to our young protagonist, named Izuku Midoriya. Unlike most people, he is actually born quirkless. His dream goal? To become the next number one hero. You want to know more about his story and what challenges he will face? Go watch My Hero Academia now! It’s available on Disney and Crunchyroll.
Freshman Ariana Hernandez states, “My hero Academia is a perfect representation of a coming-of-age story filled with plots about growing into yourself, while the characters are faced with different hardships including failure, loss, grief, and family issues. Despite it all, they have to learn to be the best heroes they can and along the way they find family and new connections among each other.”

Turning towards our next show we have is Arcane! It’s about the origin story of two sisters named Jinx and Vi who become separated and end up on two different sides of a major war. The overall hype for this show is people talking about the next act and more. If this captivates your attention, what are you waiting for? Go watch it now!
Freshman Emma Gomes says “the show has a lot of plot twists and is written very well. The animations are very well done and the writers go very in depth with the personalities of the characters.” If you like shows similar to this description, this show is for you!
