Free next week? Well, Kearny High School’s free annual winter concert is almost here, and we’d love for you to join us and enjoy an evening filled with music and holiday spirit! It’s going to be a lovely show that the KHS chorus, K-Birds, Jazz Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and conductors Ms. Gonzalez and Mr. Conde have all worked really hard on these past few months.
This year’s Winter Concert falls on Wednesday, December 10th starting at 7:00pm in the auditorium. However, performers and conductors must be there an hour early to take preparation measures. There will be a concession stand held outside the entrance doors of the auditorium with snacks and beverages for the audience.
For this year, all five groups of performers will be performing sets of songs with meanings and rhythms that vary. But they still make up a wonderful set of tunes all together. One of the songs the Symphonic Band will be performing is a special piece of music, Iditarod. Students and conductor Mr. Conde says it’s an extremely hard piece to learn. In addition to that, our mayor, Carol Jean Doyle, will be joining the Symphonic Band as the narrator for one of their songs, “A Christmas Carol”. The symphonic band is overly excited for her to join them in their holiday festivities!
We really hope you go to check out the Winter Concert this Wednesday December 10th and have a good time!
