Valentine’s Dance 2026
When most people think of Valentine’s Day they think of dates, asking someone to be their valentine, or hanging out with friends. But the students at Kearny High normally think about the Valentine’s dance, but this year seemed to under perform but that’s only to the outside observer.
The Valentine’s dance was on February 19, 2026, and it included dancing, food, and fun with friends. But not many people actually attended the dance, in fact, there were a lot less people than there were at the Homecoming dance. Many speculate why this could be, possibly due to the fact that the dance was after Valentine’s day. Or maybe it was because the dance was poorly advertised, or that the music options weren’t the best. Even though not many people went, the people who did go had a blast. The freshmen deserve special mention for breaking the ice on the dance floor and getting a proper dance circle going.

At the dance, there were empanadas, arroz con pernil (rice with pork), cupcakes, brownies, sugar cookies, and drinks. The food was sold to raise money for the senior class, with the empanadas being priced at $3, the cupcakes being priced at $2, the arroz con pernil being priced at $6, and the other food items being priced somewhere between $1-$5. The Pernil was exceptional and the homemade cupcakes were also wonderful. The Freshmen also set up a photo booth that brought our pictures to the next level
