After school, on Friday, March 27, 2026, Kearny High School held its first ever “Worship Night” in the auditorium! This was run by the Alpha & Omega Club, a Christ-centered club formed in the early 2000s. Numerous students, parents, and general church-goers attended and contributed to the creation of a magical, numinous night.
The event began with club member introductions and speeches, thanks given to the native Spanish teacher and club supervisor, Ms. Cocoa, and then prayer. Following this began the worship.

To preface, within various forms of Christianity, “worship” is a highly respected practice and the time believers spend praising their God, usually through song.
- Evangelical, Baptist, Pentecostal, Methodist, Lutheran, Anglican, and Roman Catholic/Eastern Orthodox all “worship” in various styles.
The talented duo, Anninha Coelho and Nick Duarte, led the worship and sang songs like Praises (Elevation Rhythm), Montaña, and Mighty Name of Jesus, which absolutely dominated the stage.

The crowd was quiet, and a little nervous, at first. However, any awkwardness shattered once the speaker, Adrianna Ferreira, gave a “Word”—a Christian-centered message/speech—about the Prodigal Son. Adrianna Ferreira is a counselor and pastor who specializes in mental health and restoring the mind through therapy and the word of God. Her wry turn of phrase, humility, and raw testimony melted any tension and sparked a sense of renewal in the crowd.
The audience sprang to life when worshiping continued afterward, creating an overall sense of unity. Some prayed over others, some fell to their knees. Some raised their arms, and some bowed their heads. Excitement, zeal, and vulnerability took over the auditorium. The night ended with a raucous encore and dancing at the foot of the stage to the song “I Thank God” by Maverick City Music and UPPERROOM.

Some attendants of the event describe it as “unforgettable,” “full of grace,” and “a genuine encounter with the presence of God.” Worship Night was an absolute success, and set a major milestone for Alpha & Omega. This revolutionary event set a precedent, definitely securing the club more unique, popular events in the future.
While the club has evolved and changed over the years, it remains in the hands of zealous members. For further information, Alpha & Omega is run by Gracie Faria and Marcus Silva as co-presidents, Shekinah Gavela and Samira Patel as co-vice presidents, and Damaris Flores as secretary.
